Day 108: Zen Doodle

Ever heard of a Zen Doodle?

Neither had I until recently!

It’s from the original art form, the infamous Zentangle. Zentangles are miniature pieces of unplanned, abstract, black and white art. The process of creating a Zentangle is a form of “artistic meditation” as one becomes completely engrossed in making each pattern, deliberately focusing on “one stroke at a time”®. The creativity options and pattern combinations are boundless. And anyone can do it! – I copied that from the website.

Someone has trade marked and registered the shiznit out of this. Basically, I doodled. Aint noboady gonna tell me that’s their idea. I’m going to be honest. The website I read about it actually got on my nerves. Dare I say it… quite wanky.

“Often people new to Zentangle will say, “I’ve doodled all my life, I never knew it had a name.” With all due respect, Zentangle is not doodling though the outcome may look the same.”

Oh come on!

Anyway, I won’t rant. That’s boring. However, if you want to hear exactly what I think then do comment. I’ll be more than happy to. Especially as I’ve just had a rather large glass of wine and feel fairly loose-lipped!

Here’s mine and it’s zenny process.

Sod this whole black and white doodah. Get your colours out, have some fun, get lost in the patterns and repetition of it. There’s something strangely relaxing about it. I’m sure that’s the Zen bit!

I am ridiculously far behind with the blogs so do subscribe.. there’s plenty more to come!
